Presentation of World Cup Cross-Country “Rybinsk/Demino-2010” in Ruka – Nordic Opening, Kuusamo, November 28

     From 26 to 29 of November, 2009 General Director of SSC “Demino” Andrei Galkin and Director of Sport Alexander Ignatiev paid a working visit to Finland. The main target of their mission was presentation of the FIS World Cup Cross-Country “Rybinsk/Demino-2010” on RUKA – NORDIC OPENING competitions in Kuusamo.

     The representatives of “Demino” met Director of “Santa Sport Institute” in Rovanieme Heikki Keskitalo and sales manager of “Santa Sport” Krista Hyvonen and exchange their experience in production and storing of artificial snow till autumn. This year “Santa Sport Institute”, as well as “Demino”, has prepared a course made of deposited snow that’s why both Finnish and Russian experts shared their experience with great interest, told one another about some problems taken place while laying snow on asphalt surface.

     In Sport and Tourism Centre «Ruka» located 20 km from Kuusamo (South-East Lapland) the representatives of SSC “Demino” presented World Cup Cross-Country “Rybinsk/Demino-2010”. On the captains’ meeting coaches and teams’ representatives looked through the materials of the presentation with interest and took part in discussion of the question devoted to organization of charter flights from and to Yaroslavl.
     At the end of the discussion a trilateral meeting devoted to preparation to World Cup Cross-Country “Rybinsk/Demino-2010” took place with representatives of the Cross-Country Committee: World Cup Race Director Jurg Capol, PR and Media Coordinator World Cup Cross-Country Sandra Spitz, Vice-President of Russian Olympic Committee, President of Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia Vladimir Loginov, Chief Coach of Russian National team Yuri Charkovsky, and Secretary of Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia Yuri Garmash.  Ski Sport Centre “Demino” was presented by General Director Andrei Galkin and Director of Sport Alexander Ignatiev. During the meeting all three sides discussed issues of organization charter flights, entry applications, Russian visa receipt, etc.

     In a short stop between the flights to Helsinki our partners from Finnish company “Kessu Oy” organized excursion to a newest super indoor centre for cross-country races YLLAS-HALLI. What we saw in Yllas-Halli impressed us by new ideas and scope which enable to make cross-country skiing all-year-round, and due to new airing systems and cooled air supply risk of viral infections is precluded. Organization of snow production and course preparation in Yllas-Halli are provided by our Finnish friends from “Kessu Oy”, under the direction of Peter Sederholm.
