Vitaly Mutko became a member of the FIS World Cup Organizing Committee in Rybinsk

On November 18, 2009 a scheduled meeting of the Organizing Committee of preparation and carrying out the FIS World Cup Cross-Country in Ski Sport Centre “Demino” took place in Administration of Yaroslavl region. On January 22-24, 2010 ski athletes of leading world countries will compete in the following three disciplines: sprint (ladies and men), pursuit, and team sprint.

According to Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Yaroslavl region Governor Sergey Vakhrukov, citizens of Yaroslavl accumulated significant experience in organization of competitions in three years of carrying out World Cup Cross-Country in Rybinsk. And this fact puts additional responsibility on the organizers.

Head of Yaroslavl region emphasizes that the very World Cup is not an end in itself: “SSC “Demino” is a good place for promotion a healthy life-style, the necessity of which was expressed in the message of Dmitry Medvedev to the Federal Assembly.”

Sergey Vakhrukov also told that Minister of Sport and Tourism Vitaly Mutko had become a member of the FIS World Cup Organizing Committee. Mr. Mutko said that the Federal centre would support “Demino” financially.

Ski Sport Centre “Demino” prepares for the competitions. The organizers are planning to see 25,000 ski sport amateurs during three days of the competitions. Since World Cup Cross-Country is the last European stage before Olympic Games in Vancouver, leading ski athletes of Europe are expected to come.

Vice-president of Russian Olympic Committee, President of Cross-Country Ski Federation of Russia Vladimir Loginov points out that the image of World Cup in “Demino” pretends to carry out other prestigious skiing events. And there’s no doubt that World Cup “Demino-2010” in January will be successful.
